Joshua Lowitz
Senior Consultant

Josh Lowitz is a Senior Consultant with more than twenty years of experience with retail start-ups and entrepreneurs growing retail and other consumer-facing businesses. His consulting practice is focused on new concept refinement for start-ups, existing retailers, and manufacturers entering the retail industry; financial analysis of existing and new retail businesses; and real estate, marketing strategy, and private equity.

Clients include Aramark, Fast Frame, Mall of America, Peapod, Quantum Foods, Underwriters Laboratories, US Foodservice, White Hen Pantry, and Wrigley, as well as Barefoot Tess, Bobtail Soda Fountain, Goodfellows, K Baby, Merz Apothecary, Paper Twist, Sangaree Boutique, Tabula Tua, and numerous other start-up retailers, restaurants, and manufacturers.

Prior to joining McMillanDoolittle, Josh founded and operated TV Land stores, a regional chain of mall specialty stores that became a leading retailer of licensed merchandise from the entertainment industry. Previously he served as real estate director for Sportmart and on the board of directors of No Contest!, Sportmart’s athletic footwear superstore subsidiary. Josh is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Josh has taught courses as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and in the MBA program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has served as a member of the board of directors of Homemade Pizza Company and Orly’s Treehouse and the advisory board of DQI USA. In addition, Josh is a member of the board of directors Business and Professional People for the Public Interest (BPI), and a vice president of the American Jewish Committee Chicago Chapter.
