Will Ander has been a senior member of the McMillanDoolittle team since 1988. His specializations are consumer insights, strategic planning, retail concept development and business planning. Clients have found Will’s ability to interpret data from a practical perspective to be invaluable in the development of workable retail strategies.

Will’s academic credentials, which include graduate degrees in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Stanford University and an assistant professorship at the University of Houston, are complemented with strong corporate and retailing credentials. The latter includes management responsibilities in corporate planning and development, store management, retail operations, consumer research, operations analysis, and distribution planning during his 15-year association with Montgomery Ward. He has also had management assignments for Foley’s Department Stores, Agency for International Development, NASA—Manned Spacecraft Center and the Center for Naval Analyses.

During the past twenty-two years at McMillanDoolittle, Will has worked with a number of retailing and service businesses on strategy and new store development, feasibility and concept assessment, and retail best practice studies. These businesses include Best Buy, Saturn, Sears (&the great indoors), McDonald’s, Audi, Harris Teeter, Publix, Carrefour, Lowe’s, T-Mobile, Allstate, Staples, Cabela’s, Firestone Retail, La-Z-Boy and others. Will has also worked with a number of retail suppliers, service providers, and institutions, helping them to develop strategies and business plans that better serve their retail customers. These clients include Garmin, PPG, Nestlé, DuPont, Underwriters Labs, and Procter and Gamble.

Will is a member of National Retail Federation and the International Council of Shopping Centers and has spoken on retail topics at a number of their seminars and conferences. Will has co-authored two books published by John Wiley on retailing: “Winning at Retail” (2004) and “Greentailing and Other Revolutions in Retail” (2008). He is a member of the board of All Things Automotive and is currently chair of the Consumer Sub-committee of NRF’s Sustainability Retail Consortium.
